Case Study: BeamerBall.com

BeamerBall.com is the exclusive website of Frank Beamer, Head Coach of the Virginia Tech Hokies football team.

The owners of BeamerBall.com, Inc. wanted a completely new website divided into two distinct sections. One section would be open to public access and include photos, football information, a place for people to rank the top 25 college football teams, an auction, and other features.

The second section would be a paid, "members only" place called the Coach's Club where members could get feature articles, a question/answer interview with Coach Beamer, locker room stories and photos, progress reports from the various assistant coaches, and other features. This section required a full administrative section to update the site and manage information, credit card processing, log-in restrictions, and many security controls.

A final requirement of the project was that the site needed to launch within two weeks.

Solution:
ACI built a team of programmers and designers and went quickly to work. In two weeks we had fulfilled the requirements and launched a fully functional BeamerBall.com. The site was built using Microsoft’s IIS, ASP scripting, and SQL Server as the backend database. The membership transactions are handled through eMerchant, ACI’s eCommerce solution.

Screen Shot of the BeamerBall.com WebsiteSince then, ACI has added many features to the site including an online catalog to purchase gifts and admission to clinics, several promotional contests, an area for members to edit their own account information, and various reports for use by the site administrator.
